FEB 29: University of Newcastle students are eligible for more than 200 scholarships to help ease their study costs.
Among the many up for grabs are four Delta Electricity grants worth $2,500 for undergraduate students, a $1000 Edith and Joseph McBride Scholarship for Nursing students, and a $5,000 Sanitarium scholarship Food Science and Human Nutrition honours students.
Bachelor of Education student Sarah Anne Doherty won a Delta Electricity Scholarship in 2011 and says it made a massive difference.
“The scholarship really relieved the financial pressure and allowed me to dedicate more time to my studies rather than having to work too many hours on top of uni.
“I used the money as a backup for text books. It was also an incentive to work hard and show my appreciation for the help I was given,” she said.
