TAFE NSW – North Coast Institute (North Coast TAFE) is the largest regional and training provider in Australia and a leading education and training institute. Each year we help 45,000 students’ complete nationally recognised courses and rewarding training programs.
North Coast TAFE consists of 17 campuses located between across some of the most scenic and exciting parts of the country. The North Coast of NSW is an area of natural beauty including pristine beaches, sub-tropical rainforests and lush mountainsides, making it an ideal location to develop your healthy study-life balance. Our campuses range from The Great Lakes region in the south to the Tweed Heads region on the Queensland border.

We provide a wide-range of qualification levels and variety of our programs means our courses are available to meet the requirements of students ranging from entry-level learners and school-leavers to career builders and higher education graduates seeking specialised vocational expertise.
We offer over 600 nationally recognised courses offered with the flexibility to decide whether to study on campus, by distance, online or a combination of these. We can provide you with on-the-job learning, as well as traineeships, apprenticeships and specifically packaged work-based training arrangements. If you wish to head for university, many of our courses provide a seamless pathway into university study.
If you are an Indigenous student, a school student, an international student or a woman we have special programs available. For example, you can, complete a TAFE qualification while still at school, study a specific indigenous program or learn English at our English Language Centre.

All North Coast TAFE campuses offer an excellent learning environment with:

All campuses provide help with English, English as a second language, reading, writing, maths, science, computing and communication for any North Coast TAFE course you are studying. Tutorial support is available at our Individual Learning Centres, Adult Study Centres and Adult Basic Education Centres at all campuses.
Each North Coast TAFE campus has student recreation areas and facilities. There is a student common area to relax in outside of class hours and most campuses also have a canteen, tea and coffee-making facilities, microwave ovens and food and drink vending machines.
All of our campuses have wireless access to our network available for students. This is to enhance the flexibility of our educational delivery and your access to resources and research. The network is designed to support notebook, laptop and netbook computers but will also support other wireless capable devices such as mobile phones, PDA’s, tablets and music devices.
All students enrolling in North Coast TAFE will have a Student e-Services account and a TAFE card. The Student e-Services account will provide students unlimited access to access emails and any information regarding their studies.
The TAFE card is a student identification card offers discounts on a range of goods and services, travel and other concessions. It is also used for identification on campus, registration for the TAFE NSW library network, for membership of your students association, access to parking and areas such as computer laboratories.
North Coast TAFE students also have access to a wide range of free counselling services. Counsellors can assist students with; career planning, study skills, course articulation and credit transfer, personal issues and financial matters.
At North Coast TAFE there are a range of scholarship programs being operated by Government agencies and partner organisations. VET FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme for the vocational education and training (VET) sector as part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP). You repay this loan through the Australian taxation system when you reach the minimum income threshold for repayment, which is adjusted each year to reflect any change in average weekly earnings.
To be eligible to apply for VET FEE-HELP, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen OR be the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be resident In Australia for the duration of study
- Provide a tax file number
- Provide a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN) or be allocated one
- Not exceed your FEE-HELP loan limit. .
If you receive a Commonwealth benefit or allowance (see list below), you are eligible to pay a concession fee per course enrolment, rather than the full TAFE NSW fee.
